KAREN CLARK DANCE STUDIO March Newsletter 2010 COSTUMES - Please have costumes organized by March 31, 2010 Classes are starting to receive their costumes - yipeee! If we get to the end of March and you don't have a costume yet please get in touch with us and we can update you. Please remember having your dancers costume organized is your responsibility, but we are here to help. To find out what is happening with costumes please give us a call. Keeping in touch with us will be very helpful . Please label costume pieces and dance shoes with your dancer's name . PRIMARY TAP SHOES If you have not already please replace black satin ribbons with black elastic in your primary dancers tap shoes. Or you may purchase black shoe ties, ($6.00) from the Studio Office at Studio 1. Please label all shoes with your dancer's name . UNDERTARDS Undertards are a nude body suit style garments that are worn under costumes. This is helpfulif dancers have to change costumes. They are available from the Studio Office; cost is $25.00 including GS T. DRESS REHEARSAL AND RECITAL DATES Our Recital dates are May 5, 7, 8 (two shows) , with the dress rehearsal being April 26, 27, 28, 30 . All will take place at the University Centre Farquhar Auditorium. Only Dance Company classes will perform in all recitals. A breakdown for recitals as to what performance(s) your dancer(s) is in is now posted on our web site www.karenclarkdancestudio.com <http://www.karenclarkdancestudio.com> and at studios 1 & 2. RECITAL TICKETS FOR "Be Out Guest" GO ON SALE Wednesday, March 31 Tickets for "Be Our Guest ~ 2010" will go on sale Wednesday, March 31 through the University of Victoria Ticket Office both on line and in person. Tickets will go on sale Wed, March 31TH through the UVic Ticket Office. Tickets may be purchased on line, www.auditorium.uvic.ca by phone 250-721-8480 or in person. Detailed ticket information will be listed on the web site under the 'Rec. Tix' button, as soon as we receive it. Tickets are $13.00 plus GST and Service Charges. PICTURE WEEK - All pictures take place at the studio "1" with Gordon Lee Photography Friday Dancers: May 14 Saturday Dancers: May 15 Monday Dancers: May 17 Tuesday Dancers: May 18 Wednesday Dancers: May 19 Thursday Dancers: May 20 Pictures will start Friday, May 14 and our last day will be Thursday, May 20 . The Company Wall Picture and Company Production is scheduled for Wed, May 19 at TBA. All pictures will take place at Studio 1 - 4499 Viewmont Avenue. So if you dance at Studio 2, you will go to Studio 1 during Picture Week. Picture package will be 3.5 x 5 individual and a 5 x 7 group for $12. You may pay for your picture at the time of your photo. Information on arrival times will be posted on the web site closer to the picture dates. RAD Exam Ballet classes continue as normal during picture week. RECITAL ASSISTANCE We require 1 or 2 Dressing Mothers per class. Responsible for assisting your class back stage both Dress Rehearsal and Recital. You do get to see your dancer perform, but you don't get to sit and enjoy the entire show. Dressing Mothers do not need a ticket. Please sign up under your child's class on the backstage lists. The back stage lists will be posted at the studio your dancer's class is at. . The number of assistants needed for each class is limited. If you want to assist us please sign up early. GRADUATION, FIVE/TEN/FIFTEEN/TWENTY YEAR DANCERS&% If your dancer is graduating grade 12/University or has been with us for 5, 10, 15 or 20 years and will be getting a medal/trophy please confirm this by e-mailing Miss Karen at karenclarkdancestudio@hotmaill.com or leaving a message at 658-0445. NO DANCING Spring Break: March 08 - March 13, Classes start again Monday, March 15. Easter Weekend: April 2, 3 and April 5 Dress Rehearsal and Recital Week: No regular dance classes the weeks of April 26 and May 3. See you at the Dress Rehearsals and Recitals. Studio classes start again the week of May 10 until May 20. RAD Ballet classes will continue through the Weeks of April 26 and May 3 where possible. RAD classes end after exams the week of June 12 - 19. BALLET EXAM AND BALLET PRESENTATIONS The Vocational exam session will be in the spring. The Graded exam session will be between June 12 and 19. We will let you know the exact breakdown of times when we receive them. Dancers doing the ballet exams/ballet presentations may expect to receive their letters as to which format their exam will take in April. FESTIVALS 10 We have enteries in the Nanaimo, DanceWorks and Greater Victoria Festivals. Good luck to all our Festival Performers! Festival Performers please check the web site on a regular basis. LAST DAY OF CLASSES Last Day of Classes: Thursday May 20, Last Day of RAD Ballet classes: end after exams the week of June 12-19. |
