Proper dance attire helps dancers move safely, allows teachers to see correct body alignment, and encourages focus and discipline in class.

 

RAD Ballet Exam Classes

Dancers enrolled in RAD Ballet Exam Classes must follow the Royal Academy of Dance dress requirements exactly.

We ask that dancers follow the studio dress code as closely as possible. Wearing the correct attire creates a polished, professional classroom environment and allows our instructors to properly assess technique and alignment.

Please ensure:

• Dance wear is clean, fitted, and in the recommended colours.

• Hair is secured as outlined below before class begins.

• Proper dance shoes are worn for each style.

• Street shoes are never worn in dance class.

Oversized clothing, loose hair or incorrect footwear can limit a dancer's progress and make it difficult for instructors to teach proper technique. Learning to dress appropriately for class is an important part of dance education and discipline.

 

Primary Dance Classes - Ages 6 & Under

Tap/Ballet Combination

Girls

• Pink bodysuit

• White socks

• Black tap shoes

• Pink ballet shoes (professionally fitted from a dancewear store. Generic ballet shoes from large retail stores are not suitable.)

• Hair secured back off the face in a ponytail

• Skirts or tutus are welcome

• Dance Bag that will come into class with them

Dancers will start class in their tap shoes and bring their ballet shoes into the studio in a dance bag.

Please label all shoes and bags with your dancer's name.

Boys

• White T-shirt

• Black shorts

• Black tap shoes

• Black ballet shoes

 

Tap

Girls

• Pink bodysuit

• Ballet pink Mondor tights or socks

• Black tap shoes

• Hair secured back off the face

Open Ballet (Non-Exam)

If your dancer has a favourite dance outfit they would like to wear, they are welcome to do so. Gym slippers are also acceptable. Please do not wear runners or hard-soled shoes.

Boys

T-shirts are not permitted, as Acro dancers spend a significant amount of class upside down and shirts do not stay in place safely.
