What to Wear ~ Dance Attire

Stage Dance Class Attire:  

Stage Dance classes are - tap, jazz, hip hop, acro, musical theatre, lyrical, contemporary, non exam ballet, mini pops, combination classes.

 

Dressing in the same colour - is important. When you go to purchase new dance attire we request you follow these guidelines.  Sloppy clothing, hair not tied up and improper dance footwear is very difficult for our dancers and may result in not excelling in class.  Being dressed accordingly is part of dance discipline.  

 

PRIMARY DANCE CLASSES - 6 Yrs & Under STAGE Classes
 

Tap/Ballet Combination
Girls:  Bodysuit (pink please), white socks, black tap shoes, pink ballet shoes (fitted from the dance store. Generic shoes from big chain retailers are not suitable.)  Hair in a pony tail back off the face. Skirts or Tutu's are welcome.
Boys: white t-Shirt, black shorts, black tap shoes, and black ballet shoes.

 

Tap
Girls:  Bodysuit (pink please), ballet pink (Mondor tights) or socks,  black tap shoes, hair back off the face. Skirts or Tutu's are welcome.
Boys: white t-Shirt, black shorts, black tap shoes.

 

Ballet
Girls:  Bodysuit (pink please), ballet pink (Mondor tights) or socks, pink ballet shoes (fitted from the dance store.  Generic shoes from big chain retailers are not suitable.) Hair back off the face in a bun. Skirts or Tutu's are welcome.
Boys: white t-Shirt, black shorts, and black ballet shoes.

 

Jazz, Mini Pops:
Girls: Bodysuit, (pink/black), black pants, black leggings, or black capris length pants.  Block (#S0499) Nude jazz shoes, hair back off the Face. 
Boys:  White t-Shirt, black shorts, black jazz shoes.

Hip 2 Hop:
Girls and Boys: Loose fitting baggy clothing.  Hair in a ponytail. 
Shoes: Black Runners - that will be used for Hip 2 Hop only.  NO street shoes.

2's in Tutus & Tots & Twirls
Girls:  Bodysuit, pink in colour.  A skirt or tutu is welcome. Pink ballet shoes.  If a dancer has a certain outfit they wish to wear - that's fine with us. Ballet shoes are recommended, but if you prefer a gym slipper - that's ok too.  No runners or hard sole shoes. 
Boys:  Shorts and a t-shirt. Black ballet shoes or bare feel.  No runners or hard sole shoes. 


DANCE CLASSES - 7 YEARS AND OVER STAGE CLASSES

Tap
Girls: Black pants or shorts, black tight top, tap shoes with high quality tap. Hair in a ponytail.
Boys:  White t-shirt, black shorts, black tap shoes with tele-tone taps.

Jazz:  Musical Theatre: Stage:
Girls:    Black pants or black leggings or black capris length pants, or black shorts, black tight top, Block (#S0499) Nude jazz shoes. Hair in a ponytail. 

Boys:   White t-shirt, black shorts, black jazz shoes.

Hip Hop Classes, ages 7-10
Shoes: Black Runners - that will be used for Hip 2 Hop only.  NO street shoes.  As soon as Dances fit a size 3 please get the Hip Hop Class Shoes. 

All Dancers: Loose fitting baggy clothing.  Hair in a ponytail.

 

Hip Hop Classes, ages 10+

Shoes:  Dancers require Converse shoes - photo to the right.  They start at size 3.  They are available from Baggins Print Shop, 2521 Government Street Phone number 778-433-7022. Shoes are $119.00 plus tax.  Once shoes are purchased Baggins will print them with the KCDS logo.  Shoes are printed to order.  There is  a 7-10 business day turnaround for printing.  Baggins Shoes will contact you once your shoes are ready for pick-up.

Hip Hop CREWS:
